5 Common Causes for Sun Screens Phoenix

Although regular wear-and-tear from the elements of Mother Nature can cause the best sunscreens to deteriorate over time, insects such as crickets, grasshoppers, and wasps are notorious for chewing holes through sunscreens.

Therefore, if you see these critters lurking around your sunscreens, getting a broom and giving them a swift new residence may be a good idea.

Here are five common causes of damage to sun screens Phoenix:

  1. Holes in Your Exterior Sunscreens

For those who have pets, the best sunscreens on earth don’t stand a chance against the razor-sharp claws of a cat or the strong nails of man’s best friend, our furry little dogs. While this playful issue isn’t grave, it does have the potential to create more damage and bigger holes.

It’s always best to repair the smaller holes and tears before you need to call sunscreen companies in Phoenix, Arizona such as Stellar Sunscreens, and purchase new replacements.

  1. Bent or Broken Frames

Bent or broken frames are one of the easiest and most visible problems to address because they are often due to common mistakes made by careless adults who lock themselves out of the house and have to break in and put the frame in backward in a rush effort or children playing baseball inside or outside of the house.

  1. Shades are Cracked or Brittle

Should I replace my old window screens if they are cracked or brittle is a common question that many homeowners in Phoenix ask Stellar Sunscreens about. We recommend if that’s the case with your exterior sunscreens, it may be a good time to call us and inquire about the replacement cost.

  1. Shades Won’t Go Up!

For sun screens Phoenix residents, if the operation of the exterior shade rollers is causing damage to your sunscreens, there are some DIY tricks you can try. Remove the shade, then using pliers in a clockwise direction turn the flat side of the pin until you feel resistance and the latch will engage after the pin stops. Now, replace the exterior shade rollers and see if the proper operation has returned.

  1. Worn Out Sunscreens

Much like other components inside of your Phoenix home, the best sunscreens can wear out and become damaged over the years. If your sunscreens have become worn out, it may be an excellent time to conduct an overall assessment for all of your sunscreens and replace them all at once as time tends to wear out the same.

Do window solar screens keep bugs out?

Solar screens are used to reduce the effect that sunlight rays have on your furniture and the temperature in your house but that’s not all they are used for. They are also used to keep bugs and insects out of the house. A tightly woven sunscreen mesh makes it difficult for insects to gain entrance into your home.

Without a solar screen, these tiny creatures have direct access to your home and if you’re not careful, it won’t be long before you have an infestation problem on your hands.

Should you use Sun Screens?

sun screens ArizonaIf you’re still wondering about this, the answer is yes. You should absolutely use sunscreens and there are many reasons you should install a sunscreen in your home. We have discussed tips to keep your home cool during The Phoenix Arizona summer. We will share more reasons why you should use sunscreens below.

To reduce glare

Sunscreens help you to reduce the impact of sunlight on your TV screens or any other mirror screen you might have around your home. With solar screens, you don’t need to close the curtains or shut the window because there’s too much light around.

To Keep Insects Out

blinds in Arizona Insects are annoying little pests and without proper care, they will gain entrance into your home and cause major problems to the health and wellbeing of you and your children. They might even attack your furniture and upholstery in the case of an infestation.

You and your family will love the added protection when your kids or pets are playing on the deck or patio. Even the smallest bugs, snakes, or other animals will be unable to penetrate our sunscreens, keeping your pets safe throughout the night. You can also enjoy time outside with family and friends and you can quickly convert your outdoor patio into an enclosed room and enjoy the extra space.

Protection against the weather

Whether it’s the sun or harsh winds you need to protect your house against, sunscreens will have you covered. You will be properly shielded from such harsh weather conditions by your window shades thus reducing heat transfer in your home. You can use screens to block rain, wind, and other adverse weather conditions from having a direct effect on your home.

Types of Sunscreen you can use to keep the bugs away

Fiberglass

fiberglass sun screens AZ Fiberglass is one of the most popular screen fabric materials. It doesn’t corrode, rust, or stain but it has its own disadvantages though. It stretches and tears more easily than aluminum.

It is produced by using raw spun-glass filament and applying a vinyl (PVC) coating, producing remarkably strong single strands that are typically .010 mil for window screening and .013 mil for pool enclosures, patio rooms, and some door screening.

Aluminum

Aluminum screening is a rugged, metal mesh. It is more durable than vinyl but it dents easily. Aluminum window screening fabric is made by drawing a 3/8-inch-diameter aluminum rod through a series of dies, which reduces it to a .010-mil wire.

Manufacturers usually wind this wire on a master beam loads the beam onto a weaving loom and produce the screen material using a shuttle-fed “fill” wire to complete the horizontal direction of the mesh construction. Once the screen fabric is woven, it gets painted and heat-treated to bond the wires at their junction points.

Conclusion

sun screen AZ Insect screening has long been an effective measure that gives us the freedom to maintain an open-door policy. When you’re shopping for sunscreens, it is important to also consider the fabric and the kind of mesh of sunscreen.

We have a variety of sunscreens that will fit your need at Stellar Sunscreens and we will be glad to guide you in choosing the best one for your home.

Use Ceiling fans to circulate air.

Ceiling fans complement other cooling types, and when they’re made to rotate incorrect directions, they tend to make a difference to temperatures in the home. They’re energy-efficient, affordable, and easy to install; they distribute the thermostat air and keep the room’s degree cooler.

Use Shades that will block the heat

You can shade your windows and walls by trying to use external curtains like blinds and drapes. You can also plant shading trees that will cast a shade over the homes in summer and will allow sunshine in winter.

Close external coverings

During summer, it is best to keep blinds closed and consider the north and west-facing windows because the sun is more intense towards that side. Block-out curtains are also great investments to shield your home from the harsh summer sun. It is good to also close doors that aren’t allowing air inside; this will also ensure that cool air can’t escape.

Hang and chill out

A patio shade also allows you to enjoy your time on the patio with your family or alone. Our bodies generate hormones like serotonin when we engage in activities we enjoy, which are responsible for the sensation of euphoria you experience from having fun alone or with loved ones.

Relaxation

backyard patio This is a point that cannot be overstated. A patio is a structure that symbolises tranquillity, relaxation, and harmony. You’ve just gotten home after a long day, had a bath, and decided to have dinner on the patio to avoid the heat of the house during the summer. Consider how much that might help you unwind.

You’d be able to enjoy a lovely meal with folks you care about while watching the lights fade and the stars shine brightly in the night sky. That is a truly wonderful thing to be able to do, especially on a patio.

Preservation

An outdoor patio is a building that everyone who values comfort and leisure in the great outdoors would want in their home. Because anyone is willing to pay a reasonable amount of money to have what they want in a house, a patio raises the monetary value of the property.

It raises the property’s worth because the owner now has greater utility and satisfaction. In this case, the benefit of having a patio cover is that it protects your patio furniture from heat and intense sun rays.

Beautification

terrace cover “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” as the common phrase goes, and this is no different in the case of a patio, where the beholder is the majority of people. The majority of people consider a patio to be relaxing and attractive. When there is a cover over the terrace, it looks much nicer.

To begin, you must safeguard your patio furniture, which will help it preserve its brilliance and gloss. Second, it gives your patio a more upscale and elegant appearance.

Conclusion

With proper sunscreen maintenance, you can enjoy the Arizona sun all year long while also ensuring that your home remains cool.

Creating privacy in your House

If you are looking to just create and increase privacy within your home while leaving your yard open and clear of obstructions, there are several ways to achieve this. Most often it involves obstructing the view through your home’s windows.

Sunscreens

Sunscreens are made of a polyester material that is PVC coated and placed on the outside of your windows to help decrease the sun’s harsh rays from entering your home. The added benefit is the privacy it creates. Neighbors and those passing by will not be able to see into your windows but you will still be able to see out. This is great for those who still want to enjoy the view of their great landscape from indoors.

Sunscreens also help protect your interior from fading due to the sun as well as decrease glare and the amount of heat entering your home. This will save you money on furniture, energy bills, and decrease the frustrated in dealing with not being able to see your favorite tv show or read your favorite book due to the glaring sun.

Sunscreens typically add value to your home giving you even more benefits. They often come in several colors to match the exterior of your home. If you are interested in custom sun screens, we invite you to contact us today for a free estimate!

Window Shutters

If you like a Victorian, Cape Cod, Colonial, or Ranch style you may like the option of using wood shutters on the outside of your windows. These are attached to the outside of your windows to close when needed for increased privacy.

There are several types of shutters depending on your styling preference and how you want to utilize them. They include Bermuda, paneled, louvered, and board and batton. If you are looking for something similar but not made of wood each style comes in a variety of materials to give you the look and durability you are searching for.

Though shutters do provide great privacy for your home they can often be difficult to maintain depending on the material you have chosen. Make sure to keep in mind materials and how the weather in your area could affect them in the long term.

Usually using wood shutters offer little to no ability for you to see out of your home. If you are wanting to still take in the view of your yard this may not be the option for you.

At Stellar Sunscreens, we do not install window shutters and instead specialize in custom shade screens.

Window Treatments

Another way to create privacy within your home is through the use of different window treatments. This includes window films and curtains. Many window films offer little to no ability for you to see out of them or for neighbors to see in them. While curtains provide the option of changing your privacy settings when you want.

There are several different types of window films on the market depending on the look you want. This includes a frosted look, privacy films, tinted, UV blocking, and many more. There are also electronic window films for smart windows. This allows the homeowner to change the settings on the window when wanted from being frosted to being clear. Traditional window films are fairly cost-effective, however, electronic window films are pretty pricey.

Many homeowners use curtains or blinds in their home to help increase privacy. These are part of a normal interior design, so they are easily available. Curtains are great for increasing privacy in your home due to a variety of materials and colors you can choose from. You can layer your curtains with different materials to give you more privacy options; from materials that are more or less see through to blackout curtains.

We do not install window treatments, but we have found that some of our clients use window treatments in additions to custom shade screens.

Creating privacy for your Yard

For those looking to create a more private space in their yard as well as within their home the following are some great options.

Trees and Plants

Planting trees or hedges around your yard creates a beautiful living fence. Many people choose to plant Evergreens to ensure privacy year round. Sometimes planting a long row of the same kind of tree may not be aesthetically pleasing to many people. If this is the case for you, consider planting several different kinds of plants. If they are plants that don’t last through the winter be sure to be strategic in planning where to put each plant to ensure you get privacy in the areas of your home and yard even during the winter months.

Creating beautiful landscapes to increase privacy often adds value to your home. It also gives you something amazing to look at when looking out of your windows.

Fences

Building fences is often another go-to way to increase the privacy of your home. This is a more physical and permanent, depending on fence material, way to increase privacy. There are several types of fences you can build, including metal wall screens, corrugated, wood, chain link, trellis, and stone fences.

Metal wall screens and corrugated fences are becoming more popular for those who enjoy a more modern or artsy style for their home design. Trellis and stone fences give a more rustic and colonial feel to the exterior of your home.

The type of fence you choose will depend on the level of privacy you want. If you just want to line your property but create no privacy, a chain link fence or trellis are your options. If you are wanting complete privacy with little to no ability for others to look in wood, corrugated, or metal wall screens could work better for you.

Make sure to check your local regulations when choosing a fence as some areas may have height restrictions.

To get the most private setting around your home try using several different privacy methods such as planting trees and shrubs as well as installing sunscreens. This will protect your home from the harshness of the sun’s rays, provide a beautiful view you are able to enjoy from inside your home, and keep out the wandering eyes of those nearby. Whatever your combination you are on your way to improving the privacy of your home.
